Spotlight On: Project LeanNation University City

Jan 16, 2024 | Business Growth, Dining

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Ted Williams, along with Domonique Williams, who’s originally from Columbus, Ohio, opened Project LeanNation University City in September 2023. Though the two share a last name, there’s no relation. They met through a group of transplants to Charlotte who meet up for get-togethers and holidays.

“We’ve been living in Charlotte for four years, but visited a lot prior to moving here, and simply fell in love with the city,” said Domonique. Tim currently resides in University City, and Domonique lives Uptown.

Why did you choose University City?

We got excited about the recent growth and expansion throughout the University City area, but we noticed that there was a void in healthy food options. Ultimately, we wanted to bring awareness on health and nutrition, and provide a solution. With our products and services we strive to help our clients become the best version of themselves, and UC offers a great platform and customer base to do just that!

Why did you choose Project LeanNation?

PLN offered a simple business model and ultimately a simple and realistic solution for people who want to eat and live better but find the logistics of actually doing so challenging. PLN isn’t just a product, but a brand and a lifestyle that truly helps clients eat and be better. We started out as clients and we believed in it enough to want to share it with our community.

How’s it been going since you opened?

We opened last September, and things have been going very well since we opened! We are looking forward to building our memberships and our community engagement in 2024. The community can join us every third Sunday of each month at 9 a.m. for a free yoga class at our location.

What makes you unique among other franchise owners?

We started as clients first, our operation is 100% minority owned, and we have both been fitness and health enthusiasts through and through so we understand the struggles and challenges that many of our clients face.

What else should we know?

We’re currently running a promotion for new members. Sign up and receive up to $100 off your subscription with Project LeanNation University. We are also offering a 5-week “biggest loser” challenge on January 27. The winner of the challenge will receive a year membership to Crunch Fitness University and $100.
