Here’s your chance to help shape our future

Dec 15, 2016 | Economic Development, Events

Unified Development OrdinanceEver look at a new building and wonder, why there? And why does it look like that? City planners invite you to help set guidelines to answer those questions and many more: A community workshop on the proposed Charlotte Place Types & Unified Development Ordinance will take place 6-8 pm Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Oasis Shrine facility at University Place.

What is the Charlotte Place Types & Unified Development Ordinance?

The City of Charlotte is updating our land use policies and development ordinances. This comprehensive effort – Charlotte Place Types & Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) – will the shape the future growth of our city. The city has prepared an extensive website, CharlotteUDO.org, to help us learn about the ordinance and follow the process.

About the Dec. 15 workshop at University Place

City planners invite the public to lend our voices and learn more about the Development Ordinance (UDO) at Thursday’s workshop – the last of several held since late November across Charlotte. The workshop will take place 6-8 pm at the Oasis Shrine facility, 604 Doug Mayes Place (just off of JW Clay Boulevard) in University Place.

Online registration is encouraged though not required. Register

Can’t make the meeting or want more information?

City planners have created both an online poll and a Meeting in a Box to help us share our ideas and learn much more about this complex but very important set of development standards. The Meeting in a Box contains a digital collection of information that we can explore to learn more about the project. The materials also include two online tools for sharing ideas, the “What is this Place Type?” Questionnaire and the “What is your favorite place in Charlotte” interactive map.
