Meet Abby Armstrong
“I was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. I started out my college career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and transferred to UNC Charlotte my second semester of college. I love the Charlotte area and both of my parents are UNC Charlotte alumni, so it was in my blood to be a 49er.

“I am a senior marketing major graduating in December. My ultimate career goal would be to become a marketing director for a company. I met Darlene, found out all that she did for the University area, and decided that University City Partners would be the perfect place to intern.

“I think UCP does amazing things for the University area and not enough people know about it, so I wanted to the opportunity to help market and spread the word so that more people are aware of what goes on behind the scenes around University City.”

Luis Martinez

“My name is Luis Martinez, and I am currently a sophomore at UNC Charlotte. I am also currently serving as the Planning and Development intern for University City Partners.

“I was born in Paterson, New Jersey, but moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 2 years old and grew up in the University City area. I enjoy theatre, traveling, meeting new people, and being with family and friends.

As a student my major is currently undecided, but I’m looking into possibly going into the Planning and Development field. I have always been interested in learning how towns and cities are planned out and designed, and ever since I was a little kid I was always fascinated at observing how cities functioned and how the people who lived in these cities moved from place to place on a daily basis. Because of that I feel that going into the Planning and Development field would be a great choice for me as it is a field that I find most interesting.

“What attracted me to interning at University City Partners was the opportunity to gain real hands-on experience in working in the Planning and Development field.”
