How is University City connected to the FOX Sports NFL Robot?

Feb 6, 2024 | Uncategorized

With the Super Bowl just around the corner, we have the NFL on our minds. Did you know that University City has a fun connection to Cleatus, the FOX Sports NFL robot?

The FOX Sports Creative Services team off W.T. Harris Boulevard in Charlotte is responsible for a bulk of the design and on-screen presentation that is seen across all sports across all FOX Sports channels. Cleatus, the iconic mascot of FOX’s NFL coverage has become not only a recognizable icon throughout NFL broadcasts but an icon for the whole FOX Sports Division.

Michael Dolan, FOX Sports SVP of Design, works out of the Charlotte facility. “The FOX Sports Creative Services team in Charlotte has been responsible for redesigning Cleatus and incorporating him throughout the FOX NFL on-screen branding packages,” said Dolan. “The team uses the latest software packages from Adobe, Cinema 4D, and Unreal Engine to design and create these executions for our live broadcasts.”

What started as a small group five designers has grown into a team of over 30 at its University City location.
