New This Year: Wine on the Water and a Boutique Dining Experience.
Greystar University City Wine Fest will return this fall at multiple locations around the lake and boardwalk at Shoppes at University Place.
The fourth annual festival will take place from September 16-20 with smaller-scale events. New this year, attendees can experience three additional ways to enjoy wine throughout the festival.
Daily events range from sipping wine on the water while paddle boating to a limited capacity dining experience at a local chef’s home.
“We look forward to holding the festival to most importantly support local business owners that have been impacted by the coronavirus, and to provide a safe way for individuals to enjoy community,” says Darlene Heater, Executive Director of University City Partners. “University City Wine Fest is lots of fun and has met the growing interest for programs and activities in University City. We will engage more area businesses surrounding the lake and boardwalk, which offers an accommodating location to enjoy scenic views while social distancing.”
A festival for the Charlotte region
University City Wine Fest was created to deliver a cultural community experience in the Charlotte region.
Activities will begin on Wednesday, September 16 with wine on the water and end on Sunday, September 20 with a festival brunch.
The main event on Saturday, September 19 will feature a large variety of wines from several regional wineries. Attendees will have access to as many wine, cider and brew samples as they can responsibly manage while enjoying live music.
The festival is accessible by LYNX light rail at JW Clay Blvd Station. Directions
The fourth annual University City Wine Fest was postponed in April 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival was adjusted to ensure safety protocols are in place for adhering to social distancing guidelines. Events will be smaller to support fewer attendees. Organizers will continue to monitor and adhere to Mecklenburg County and North Carolina health guidelines.
