The season of giving has begun in University City

Nov 19, 2020 | Events

Three University City groups and businesses welcome our support in helping feed and clothe hundreds of people in need throughout Charlotte.

Hope Church Thanksgiving meal

Hope Church seeks food donations to provide the ingredients of Thanksgiving dinners for 200 families. Needed items are: brownie or cake mix, cornbread mix, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, mac and cheese, stuffing, mashed potatoes.

Bring donations to the Hope Street Food Pantry, 410 Johnston-Oehler Road, by Nov. 20. Questions? 704-584-9073

Chick-fil-A’s Help Us End Child Hunger campaign

Place a mobile order in the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A University Place (8700 University Executive Park Drive at West W.T. Harris Blvd.) and other participating Charlotte area Chick-fil-A restaurants, and the company will donate 10% of the order price to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The campaign ends Nov. 21.

Donate coats at Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery

The sweet-treats shop near IKEA (6925 University City Blvd.) is collecting winter coats for WSOC-TV’s Steve’s Coats For Kids campaign.

Donate a new or gently used coat in child or adult sizes, and get 10% off your order of fresh cupcakes, cakes and vegan ice cream.

Owner-operators Steve and Samantha White say this is a small way for them to give thanks to the community for supporting their business during the pandemic. MORE
