Free fall concerts at Shoppes at University Place
6-9 pm every Thursday in September, lakeside at the bridge at University Place.
Enjoy sweet music from popular regional performers as well as a stroll around the lake and beverages dinners and desserts at nearby restaurants.
Upcoming performances are The Voltage Brothers on Sept. 12, Southside Station Band on Sept. 19 and Coconut Groove Band on Sept. 26.

Celebration of women composers at UNC Charlotte
7:30 pm Sept. 9 at Rowe Recital Hall.
The Department of Music presents a Faculty & Friends Concert, featuring Assistant Professor of Clarinet Jessica Lindsey with special guests Judith Porter and Erin Palmer (piano), Mira Frisch (cello), Chelsea Karpeh (clarinet), and CarlosAlexis Cruz (narrator).
The program celebrates music by women composers and includes a delightful setting of poems by Shel Silverstein.

Violinist David Russell and friends at UNC Charlotte
7:30 pm Sept. 16 in Belk Theater at Robinson Hall.
The Department of Music presents a Faculty & Friends Concert, featuring Anne R. Belk Distinguished Professor of Violin David Russell. Joining him will be guest pianists Kyle Linscheid and Eric Malson.
The program includes Shubert’s Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano, and Sonata No. 4 in E minor for Solo Violin, by Eugene Ysaŷe.

Opera Carolina at the UNC Charlotte International Festival
Sept. 21 at UNC Charlotte.
For the first time, the International Festival at UNC Charlotte will include several performances by Opera Carolina. Starting at 11 am, the group will present well-known arias from works representing countries around the world.
The free festival runs 10 am-6 pm at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Parking is free all day around campus, as well.
Musical performances at The Wine Vault
Thursdays-Sundays weekly on the Wine Vault Patio.
The popular Wine Vault wine and beer bar at Shoppes at University Place hosts local performers most Thursdays through Sundays on the patio. Music starts at 7 pm Thursdays-Saturdays and at 6 pm Sundays.
The Wine Vault is at 9009 J M Keynes Drive near the lake at University Place.
Embarrassment of Riches, the one-man band featuring Rich Challen, will perform 7-11 pm Sept. 7 and 21.
Armored Cow Brewing hosts free performances
Sept. 6 and Sept. 14 at the Brewery, 8821 J W Clay Blvd.
University City’s new brewery at University Place frequently hosts performances by local artists with no cover charge.
Upcoming performances includes the Unknown Artist Band, 7 pm Sept. 6, and Rich Challen at 6 pm Sept. 14.
The Color of Jazz Series at Mallard Creek Rec Center
6:30-8 pm Oct. 3 at Mallard Creek Recreation Center, 2530 Johnston Oehler Road.
Toni Tupponce and Matt Kelly pay tribute to Kurt Elling in this free monthly jazz series presented by Dapper Street and sponsored by the Arts and Science Council.
Kid Rock, Kason Aldean, Kane Brown and ZZ Top at PNC Pavilion
Various dates at PNC Pavilion, 707 Pavilion Blvd.
The region’s biggest outdoor music venue, PNC Pavilion, has had an amazing stream of national performers this summer, and the big acts old and new keep coming.
