City of Charlotte Tree Care Grant Returns for 2025!

Empowering Communities to Protect and Enhance Our Urban Forest

The City of Charlotte is thrilled to announce the return of the Tree Care Grant, a program designed to celebrate and sustain the rich biodiversity of our urban forests. By educating residents and supporting hands-on projects, this initiative helps protect Charlotte’s cherished canopy for generations to come.

In collaboration with the Community Engagement Division and Landscape Management Department, the Tree Care Grant provides eligible neighborhood organizations citywide with matching grants of up to $3,000. These funds can be used for a variety of tree care activities, including:

  • Neighborhood canopy health assessments and limited, in-depth tree evaluations by certified arborists
  • Small tree and sapling pruning
  • Vine removal
  • Educational events, film screenings, or community celebrations centered on tree care
  • Invasive plant removal
  • Bark scale treatment
  • Mulching (New in 2024!)

Grant Highlights:

  • Participants are reimbursed for approved expenses (no advance funds are available).
  • Grant recipients must match funds through volunteer hours, cash, or in-kind contributions.
  • Application Deadline: January 6, 2025
  • Project Completion Deadline: December 2025

Take this opportunity to enhance your neighborhood’s canopy, foster community involvement, and play a vital role in preserving our city’s green legacy.

Apply now and be a part of Charlotte’s greener future!
