University City Partners is excited to announce the University City Public Safety Collaborative meeting on November 7, 2024, at the Hilton University, Charlotte. This important half-day event will bring together key community stakeholders, city officials, property managers, non-profits, and experts in public safety to address pressing issues related to crime prevention, homelessness, and overall safety in the University City area.
The event will include a panel discussion featuring prominent leaders like Major Torri Tellis (CMPD) Greg Jackson (Heal Charlotte) Clayton Taylor (Fortis) and Jerry Green (City of Charlotte). Our focus will be on actionable strategies to enhance safety, promote crime prevention, and address the perception issues that impact the community’s sense of security.
This meeting will also feature interactive breakout sessions, allowing attendees to engage in meaningful discussions on specific challenges they face and to develop tailored solutions. We believe that the collaborative spirit of this event will foster new partnerships, inspire innovative ideas, and pave the way for practical solutions that truly make a difference in our community.
In addition to the opportunity for open dialogue, there will be a working lunch to dive deeper into these conversations. We’ve invited a diverse range of experts to join us, including representatives from CMPD, the Charlotte Fire Department, Code Enforcement, non-profits working with homeless individuals, and various property managers from hotels, apartments, and office buildings in the area.
We know that these challenges can’t be fully solved in a single meeting, but this event is a critical step toward creating a safer, more connected University City. Our goal is to empower businesses, residents, and all stakeholders to work together toward beautifying our community and ensuring it remains a vibrant, welcoming place for all.
To make the event even more impactful, we’re encouraging all participants to complete a pre-event survey. This will help us understand the unique situations and challenges that you are facing, allowing us to tailor the discussion to meet the needs of our community more effectively.
University City Partners is also grateful for the potential support of Hilton University in providing the venue, and we look forward to gathering a diverse group of 75-100 attendees to share knowledge, resources, and insights that will benefit our shared community.
Seating is limited. If you have any interest in attending, please email Janelle Goodrich at jgoodrich@universitycitypartners.org. We hope to see you there on November 7 as we come together to create a safer and more vibrant University City!
