Welcome to Summer: Stay Cool With These HVAC Maintenance Tips

Jun 24, 2024 | Uncategorized

Summer has arrived, bringing long days, sunny skies, and a major heat wave. While it’s the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities and soak up the sun, it’s equally important to ensure you stay cool and comfortable indoors.

Your HVAC system plays a crucial role in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment, so proper maintenance is key. Here’s how to stay cool this summer with some essential HVAC maintenance tips.

Create a HVAC Preventative Maintenance Plan

Before the summer heat hits its peak, it’s crucial to create a customized HVAC maintenance plan. This proactive plan allows a technician to evaluate the performance, ensure your system is running efficiently, and perform any necessary repairs. This preventive measure can save you from unexpected breakdowns during the hottest days of the year and keep you cool and comfortable all summer long.

Keep the Outdoor Unit Clean

Your HVAC system’s outdoor unit can accumulate dirt, leaves, and other debris, which can hinder its efficiency. Regularly check the area around the unit and remove any debris. Make sure that there are at least 2 feet of clearance around the unit to allow for proper airflow.

After Cottonwood season, cleaning your AC coils is especially important. Cottonwood trees release fluffy seeds that can clog your HVAC coils, reducing their efficiency and potentially causing damage.

Ensure Proper Drainage

Your HVAC system’s condensate drain should be clear and unobstructed. A clogged drain can cause water damage and affect the system’s efficiency. Regularly check the drain line and clear any blockages to prevent issues.

Some final thoughts

Regular maintenance not only enhances your comfort but also extends the lifespan of your HVAC system and reduces energy costs. Stay cool, stay comfortable, and enjoy a fantastic summer!
