Consider having your group, neighborhood or business join the Adopt-a-City Street program, says Keep Charlotte Beautiful.

More than 150 volunteer groups maintain over 260 miles of streets. Their efforts help save taxpayer dollars (it costs 10 times more for the city to pick up litter than to pick up your trash!).

The benefits don’t stop there. Studies show that picking up neighborhood litter can, over time, reduce vandalism, actually reduce further littering, and help both residents and visitors feel safer.

With more than 3,000 miles of city streets still needing adoption, you will have plenty of choices for your group to adopt.

To become an official Adopt-a-City-Street participant, your group or business must agree to complete three or more cleanups each year for at least two years. The city hopes that you will also consider marking storm drains and reporting graffiti.

In return, your business or group will receive free promotion via the KBC website and social media, plus invitations to members-only events.
