Duke Energy has started work on renovating and expanding its customer service center in University Research Park. Building permits totaling $14.4 million were issued recently to renovate 80,000 square feet of space and add 35,000 square feet of additional space.
The expanded and renovated space will provide a more collaborative environment for employees, Duke Energy spokesperson Meghan Miles told the Business Journal in a news report published last winter. About 500 people work in the center.
The URP customer service center is among six in Duke Energy’s multi-state service area.
Duke Energy’s presence in University Research Park continues to grow with employment growth and the company’s acquisition of property.
