March 2017 building permits issued in University City MSD

The following information is taken from Mecklenburg County’s records of building permits issued between March 1 and March 31, 2017. These projects are within the University City Municipal Service District.

 

Carolinas Digestive Health

  • Type of project: Office upfit
  • Location: 8210 University Executive Park Drive, Unit 100
  • Construction cost: $568,633
  • Heated SF: 9,484
  • Permit date: 3/17/2017
  • Owner / tenant: Owner is Atapco Properties.
  • Additional details: University Executive Park has 13 buildings on 50 acres next to the LYNX Blue Line Extension light-rail station at North Tryon Street and McCullough Drive. Carolinas Digest Health is relocating from a smaller office, also in University Executive Park, at 8220 University Executive Park Drive.

 

Outback Steakhouse

  • Type of project: New restaurant building
  • Location:8405 IKEA Blvd.
  • Construction cost: $1,475,000
  • Heated SF: 6,550
  • Permit date: 3/30/2017
  • Owner / tenant: Outback Steakhouse
  • Additional details: This new building will share a parking area with TJ Maxx and Burlington, at the corner of IKEA Blvd and University City Blvd in the Belgate mixed-use center being developed by DDR. Belgate is an 883,159 sf retail property with numerous major retailers including the only IKEA store between Atlanta and Washington, DC. The new Outback Steakhouse will replace an existing one nearby on Chancellor Park Drive.

 

Carolinas Digestive Health

  • Location: 9448 N. Tryon St., in the OrthoCarolina University building
  • Construction cost: $239,572
  • Heated SF: NA
  • Permit date: 3/6/2017
  • Owner / tenant: OrthoCarolina
  • Additional details: Mallard Creek Surgery Center is a physician-owned ambulatory surgery center offering outpatient procedures and orthopedic surgical services. The center opened in 2014 in the OrthoCarolina building.
