Healthy UCity Race SeriesThe Healthy UCity Race Series has opened with a Rush – hundreds of participants at the Gold Rush 5K at UNC Charlotte.

You can join the fun, and get fit, by signing up soon for our next two events – the Green on the Green 5K at Corvian School and the Race 2 Educate 5K Run / Walk in the Governors Village.

More than 450 people came across the finish line on a frosty Feb. 3 morning at UNC Charlotte, as the campus launched our first ever Healthy UCity Race Series with the Gold Rush 5K. CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL THE FINISHERS  

The Healthy UCity Race Series, sponsored by University City Partners and Carolinas Healthcare System, is a collaborative series of road and bike races designed to encourage health and wellness for all ages and fitness levels. With events ranging from fun runs to the University City bike-run Duathlon, there are plenty of opportunities to participate.

The Healthy UCity Race Series includes a warm up (spring) series and a cool down (fall) series, so you can pick the series package that suits your goals. These events are all in University City and feature scenic routes and fantastic venues.

Upcoming Spring Series events

Green on the Green 5K, 4 pm March 11 at Corvian School, 9501 David Taylor Drive

Come out wearing your zaniest green as your run through the scenic Charlotte Greenway and University Business Park! This is a run/walk so whether it is your first 5K or you are trying to set that PR, this is the race for you!

Green on the Green 5K is officially timed, so make sure you wear the race bib you will be given on the front of your shirt as the timing device will be attached to the back of the bib. You can view the “Timing/Awards” tab on the event website for more information on award categories.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the children of Corvian Community School. Everyone is invited to bring non-perishable food items to the event to help the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Race 2 Educate 5K Run / Walk, 8 am April 1 at 7910 Neal Road in the Governors Village

All money raised will go to provide support to University City schools as well as college scholarships to six deserving students! The 2016 event raised more than $17,000 for scholarships. Let’s set a new record!

Participating schools are Nathaniel Alexander Elementary, Hidden Valley Elementary, University Meadows, James Martin Middle, John Morehead STEM Academy, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle, Cato Middle College, and Vance High School.

University City Duathlon and Kids Run, May 6 at 10101 David Taylor Drive in University Research Park

Run, bike and run in and around University Research Park. Annual event is organized by Bike Line of Charlotte.

14th Annual King Tiger 5K, 5K Baby Jogger and 1-mile Tiger Trot, June 3 at The Arbors shopping center near Trader Joe’s

For 2017, event organizers are bringing the Team Challenge back. Put a group of 4 runners together and receive a team time to challenge your friends and compete for awards. Teams can be male, female or mixed. You can join an existing team or create your own. Event website
