TTI Floor Care brings marketing center for excellence to URP

Score another coup for Innovation Park and University Research Park. TTI Floor Care North America, the company behind Hoover, Dirt Devil and Oreck, is creating a Center of Excellence for Marketing and Innovation at Innovation Park and adding 200 employees.

Work is under way to upfit 61,390 sf in the building at 8405 IBM Drive, with completion set for April 2016. BECO South, owner of Innovation Park, also is building a 500-space parking deck next door for the new employees. The deck will be finished in June.

TTI Floor Care is a global leader in consumer and commercial floor care appliances including upright vacuum cleaners, carpet washers, hard floor cleaners and handheld vacuums. The company announced its new Charlotte facility in August.

“Following an extensive evaluation process, we chose Charlotte because it provides access to talent with the critical consumer products expertise needed to fuel the growth of our iconic brands,” said Gary Scott, President of TTI Floor Care N.A.

High-paying jobs

Compensation will vary by job function, but the average annual compensation for the new positions is expected to be approximately $103,618 plus benefits. The overall average wage in Mecklenburg County is $59,882.

An award from the state’s Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program to TTI Floor Care helped make the project possible. Approved by the Economic Investment Committee, the award may total as much as $3.7 million from 2016 through 2027 upon the creation of 200 jobs.
