Start your Thanksgiving Day with Turkey Trot 5K Run and Walk

Turkey Trot 5K posterDon’t just pig out (or gobble turkey!) this Thanksgiving. Start your holiday at the Turkey Trot 5K walk and run through University City. That feast will taste even better, knowing that you burned some calories and helped support a good cause as well, the Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas.

Event details

Join fellow runners and walkers on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, for the 2nd annual University City Turkey Trot 5K. The event will take place at the Fresh Market, 3024 Prosperity Church Road (near Mallard Creek Road). Starting time is 8 am for the 5K run and walk.

The course follows Prosperity Church Road to around the Benfield Road intersection, then back to the Fresh Market.

Costumes and kids’ events, too!

After the race, cool down and enjoy a post-race mini-feast featuring food, drinks and music. The University City Turkey Trot 5k will also feature a fun run for kids, starting at 9. Costumes are encouraged by all those young at heart! Prizes will be awarded for the top three costumes.

Run For Your Life is helping stage the event. Event sponsors include Tide Dry Cleaners, Bojangles, Smoothie King, University City Partners and Johnson & Wales University Charlotte Campus.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas. People who register by Nov. 6 are guaranteed a race T-shirt.

How to register

  • CLICK HERE to register online. Cost is $30 for the 5K through Nov. 19; $35 Nov. 20-25. The Kids’ Fun Run is $5. There will be no registration on race morning.
