Electrolux Charlotte recently donated this delivery truck to Crisis Assistance Ministry

Electrolux announced on Oct. 6 that it has donated more than $1 million in appliances to Charlotte area non-profits.   The most recent donation – Frigidaire refrigerators to Crisis Assistance Ministry, valued at more than $100,000 – brings the total value of appliance donations to more than $1 million since the company moved its headquarters to Charlotte.

To commemorate the milestone, the company is giving an additional gift to Crisis Assistance Ministry: a large commercial-grade delivery truck. During an employee event at Electrolux headquarters on Oct. 6, the company celebrated the $1 million milestone and unveiled the new truck to employees.

The truck will enable the agency to pick up donated furniture and appliances, and then help local Charlotte families transport it to their homes.  These families are often reestablishing their lives and moving forward from homelessness.

“At Electrolux, we know our products make an everyday difference in the lives of families and individuals,” said Keith McLoughlin, Electrolux president and CEO.  “These product donations can help a family move from homelessness to stable housing, or an asthma sufferer breathe easier in the summer heat.”

Since establishing its North American headquarters in University Research Park, Electrolux has supported STEM education, critical needs, and the arts in Charlotte, as well as donating appliances through numerous nonprofit organizations including Crisis Assistance Ministry, Builders of Hope, Second Harvest Food Bank, The Ada Jenkins Center and others.

Notable gifts include:

• Nearly 2,500 room air conditioners
• Professional kitchen equipment for The Community Culinary School of Charlotte
• Stainless steel kitchen suites for Builders of Hope
• Washers and dryers for the Salvation Army’s Center of Hope supportive housing program \Laundry equipment for Ronald McDonald House
