How the bonds can help University City
University City would benefit directly from four transportation projects and one community improvement project that would receive funding if voters OK city bonds in November and three subsequent bond packages. The bond packages are mostly for road improvements.
In University City, these include two bridges over I-85 to connect University Research Park to the future light-rail corridor on North Tryon Street, extensive side street, pedestrian and bike improvements along the transit corridor, and a revolutionary cross-county bike and pedestrian path that starts at our existing greenways and runs through downtown Charlotte to Pineville and beyond. University City’s emerging Prosperity Village community that spans I-485 around Prosperity Church Road would also receive improvements such as bikeways and sidewalks.
