University City will have not one but two spring festivals to enjoy over the next two weeks! Start with Spring Fling, 11-4 Saturday at the Shoppes at Worthington on Harris Boulevard. “It’ll be like a big block party,” says co-organizer Dominica Clementi. Then on May 10-11, come to the 6th annual Mayfair Arts & Crafts Festival at University Place, featuring more than 50 artisans from across the Southeast.

More about Spring Fling

Spring Fling, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, will feature games and pony rides for the kids, music and a dozen crafts vendors. All businesses will be open, including Nona’s Sweets and other restaurants.

Come hungry and thirsty, says Dominica. Visit Nona’s Sweets for its signature bakery treats as well as its salads, grilled paninis and its signature sandwiches. Stop by Tony’s for gigantic slices of pizza. Or get a margarita and a wide range of Mexican dishes and desserts at Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina.

Pony rides will be free, but donations are strongly encouraged. Proceeds will benefit the Governors Village schools. Shoppes at Worthington is on West W.T. Harris Boulevard at Technology Drive. SEE MAP

More about Mayfair

The two-day arts and crafts festival on Mothers Day weekend has become a University Place tradition for thousands of visitors, drawn by the dozens of crafts vendors, a wide range of local performers, paddle-boat rides, children’s activities and great dining at many nearby restaurants.

The festival will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, May 10, and noon-5 p.m. May 11. University Place is at W.T. Harris Boulevard and North Tryon Street. SEE MAP
