David McHenry and Megan Grinnell

Meet our new college interns, Megan Grinnell and David McHenry. David, a senior at UNC Charlotte, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Megan is majoring in business management at Anderson University with the goal of becoming an event planner. Both are spending this summer helping University City Partners.

More about  Megan Grinnell

Megan is going into her senior year at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C., but lives in Waxhaw when not in school. A business management major, Megan will pursue a career in event planning after college.

“I have always enjoyed planning things and organizing events so I feel like I would be a good fit here at University City Partners,” she said. “I am excited to learn even more about what goes into making a plan come together. This is such a great opportunity and I am very blessed to be here.”

Megan enjoys singing and being involved in music in her spare time and hopes to combine her two passions of planning and music into one job. “I have always loved music so I think it would be a dream come true if I could be a band manager and coordinate events for tours.

Maybe one day I could sing in a band myself and be more involved in the music industry,” she says, “but right now, event planning is where I want to be.”

More about David McHenry

David comes to us from UNC Charlotte, where he is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. He aspires to be a pediatric nurse anesthetist, helping to provide comfort and pain-free treatment for every patient.

David grew up in Akron, Ohio, where he met his soon to be wife, Tiffany. After years of dealing with the sunless weather, he and his family moved to the Charlotte suburb of Waxhaw.

In his free time, David enjoys running along the greenways, biking throughout uptown, and reading James Patterson books on the weekends. He says that Charlotte has everything he could imagine and more. “Between the increasing infrastructure and unique design of the city landscape, there is never a dull moment uptown – there is always something to do.”

At University City Partners, David helps plan, coordinate and assist in various projects under development. “As a new member of University City Partners, I hope to follow in the footsteps of all those that came before me. With all the growth and development occurring throughout the University area, I know there is greatness still to come,” he says.

We are excited to have Megan and David work with us, so please join us in welcoming them to our team!
