Cato III Building

The Cato III building opens to students in January.

Students attending the third busiest campus in the vast CPCC universe – our Cato Campus on East Harris Boulevard –  are getting crucial new space.

Thanks to Mecklenburg voters who approved $210 million in community college bonds in 2013, a new building with 36 classrooms, a library and an auditorium is set to open.

The new building, Cato III, will nearly double the busy campus’s overall space.

The Charlotte Business Journal did a good writeup of the importance of this new facility to Charlotte and University City. READ THE ARTICLE.

We visited recently and shot photos of the new building and grounds, including the long pedestrian bridge that links the building to a new parking lot. The bridge spans a creek and delicate wetland that drains into adjoining Reedy Creek Nature Preserve.

Here is our gallery of photos.
