For the love of the game.

University City offers it all, including newly opened Topgolf and fields for youth sports. If you like college athletics, you’ll love cheering for the Niner Nation men’s and women’s Division I NCAA teams. Several are nationally ranked.

Athletes will find many places to play here, including three 18-hole golf courses, Topgolf’s premier entertainment destination and three parks with extensive sports fields. A cricket league holds matches at Reedy Creek Park. Mallard Creek Park hosts major youth baseball tournaments and NASCAR hosts races at the nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Races & Runs

Whether you are in it to win it, supporting a cause or looking for fun, University City has a race for you, including the annual Charlotte New Year’s Day 5K. What better way is there to launch the new year than a healthy run and celebration? Food and music will hit the spot at the post-race party. Sign up as a VIP Runner and enjoy a warm breakfast with mimosas in a heated tent.

UNC Charlotte Sports

The Charlotte 49ers have nearly 20 varsity teams that participate in the NCAA Division I level. These include football, basketball, soccer, tennis, cross country, golf, track & field, softball and more. Visit their site to learn about new players, alumni gear, fan zone, ticket purchases, camps and all things Niner Nation.

Professional Leagues in Charlotte

Take the LYNX light rail from University City to professional sports at Bank of America Stadium for the Carolina Panthers, Spectrum Arena for the Charlotte Hornets and BB&T Stadium for Charlotte Knights or special events held at each venue.

University City is also a short drive away from Bojangles’ Coliseum where the Charlotte Checkers play, and Memorial Stadium for Charlotte Independence and Charlotte Hounds games.

Starting in 2022, take the family to a Charlotte FC soccer game for their inaugural season.

Keith Family YMCA has a sport for every member of your family with outdoor soccer, football, and Miracle League baseball fields ready for action along with two indoor basketball courts.
