Solectron redeveloper adds Mallard Creek Road property

Shorenstein Realty Services, which announced plans in October 2019 to redevelop a massive former IBM office-warehouse facility on Solectron Drive, recently bought land that could provide a major entrance on Mallard Creek Road. Shorenstein acquired the longtime Flextronics facility and 51 acres at 6800 Solectron Drive in October for $10.5 million. Tru by Hilton coming to University City near IKEA

The Charlotte Observer reports that a Tru by Hilton hotel is planned for University Pointe Boulevard at I-85, based on permits filed recently with the city. The location is beside the Holiday Inn Express and Suites at 6020 University Pointe Blvd. Both properties are part of the Belgate Shopping Center. Restaurant opens in JW Clay Blvd LYNX parking deck

Retail space at the JW Clay Blvd LYNX parking deck has its second tenant. Sabor Latin Street Grill opened in December on the JW Clay Boulevard side of the building. Atrium Health Urgent Care University City opened in October. Sabor is a locally owned fast-food chain featuring foods from several Latin American countries, plus beer, wine and cocktails. Novant proposes N. Tryon medical offices

Novant Health has applied for a rezoning to allow a hospital or medical offices at North Tryon Street and Mallard Creek Church Road, the Charlotte Observer reports. I-85 North Bridge project moves forward

Charlotte’s engineering department reports that construction should begin in early 2021 on the future I-85 North Bridge connecting University Place and University Research Park. The bridge and associated new and upgraded roadways should open in early 2024. Funded by Charlotte and the state, the I-85 North Bridge and its partner, the already completed I-85 South Bridge, will provide much improved linkage between University Research Park employment hub and two major LYNX light-rail stations along North Tryon Street.
