Flournoy Development Strengthens Growth in University Research Park

University City Partners (UCP) proudly supports the Flournoy development in University Research Park—a thoughtfully designed multifamily residential community that advances the district’s vision for a connected, vibrant, and inclusive University City. Located along Senator Royall Drive, the project will introduce over 300 high-quality residential units, helping meet the growing demand for housing near key employment centers, transit corridors, and educational institutions.

Designed with walkability, sustainability, and community integration in mind, the Flournoy development complements the ongoing transformation of University Research Park into a dynamic innovation district. Residents will benefit from proximity to UNC Charlotte, major corporate campuses, greenway trails, retail centers, and the expanding LYNX Blue Line extension, creating critical access to jobs, education, recreation, and regional mobility.

“We supported this development because it reflects the type of smart, intentional growth we want to see in University Research Park,” said Keith Stanley, President & CEO of University City Partners. “Flournoy’s investment brings new energy into the district, strengthens our ability to attract and retain talent, and supports the creation of a true live-work-play environment in University City.”

In light of UNC Charlotte’s recent R1 research designation and the addition of Vanguard’s new headquarters, University City Partners is actively focusing on remaining development opportunities in University Research Park. Future efforts will prioritize attracting research and development projects, prototype manufacturing, and companies that contribute directly to job creation and economic vitality. Strategic residential developments like Flournoy’s are an essential part of this ecosystem, ensuring that University City continues to offer the talent, infrastructure, and innovation environment needed to drive sustainable economic growth.
