Sneak Peek: University City Regional Library

Sep 18, 2024 | Library | 2 comments

Earlier this month, University City Partners’ President and CEO Keith Stanley and Senior Manager of Economic & Land Development Drew Gaertner joined the Gensler design team and JE Dunn Construction to walk through the University City Regional Library, currently under construction.

The new 37,000-square-foot University City Regional Library will continue to provide invaluable resources to the University City community. Close to several modes of public transportation and ADA compliant, the library design prioritizes accessibility and convenience to best meet the needs of diverse populations.

According to Gensler, the building’s design is sculpted to welcome the community and offers uninterrupted views and connection back to the larger mixed-use development, which includes a one-mile pedestrian trail, lakefront park views and a variety of retail.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s newest facility will feature two floors, equipped with a large community room, a dedicated children’s program room, several study nooks and rooms, media center, conference rooms, and a teen center. An outdoor reading area will look out onto the lake at The Shoppes at University Place.

Grand opening for the library is targeted at early 2025. Stay tuned for details here.

I can’t wait for this to open! My girls and I currently go to the Northern Regional Library every other weekend, but we will be switching to this one once it is opened. This is very exciting for the University area.
