The President/CEO is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all programs and policies of the University City Partners and its affiliates The University City Partners Team Members share responsibility for recognizing, creating, and implementing plans to promote diversity and inclusion within the organization’s respective programs and initiatives. Whenever possible, this includes involving external stakeholders to coordinate and promote the UCP’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. The University City Partners views Diversity and Inclusion as a moral and economic imperative for building a great city within a city.

To be successful in this position, the CEO must be a dynamic, visionary leader, effective communicator, collaborator, and expert manager. She/he must possess the passion and skill to support the mission of creating an economically vibrant University City. The CEO must have the capacity to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups including property owners, employers, developers, brokers, retailers, residents, public agencies, and government officials. The CEO should possess a deep commitment to instilling practices and a culture that reflects University City Partners.

  • Significant executive-level business experience, and/or relevant experience involving city planning, preferably in the areas of government,
    real estate development, finance, membership development, marketing, events, transit and transit-oriented development, and placemaking.
  • Results-oriented with a proven record of execution and excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage, empower, and inspire a diverse staff.
  • Extensive project management and team leadership experience incorporating accountability, proactive and independent development of work plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Commitment to creating vibrant, walkable places.
  • Proven experience with financial and fiscal accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge regarding public/private partnerships with a diverse array of civic leaders, internal and external partners, business leaders, and government entities both at the administrative and elected level.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to diversity.
  • Unimpeachable integrity and understanding of the necessity of being apolitical.
  • Promote and leverage UNC Charlotte— a 30,000-student, research university with 19 Division 1 athletics teams.
