CAMINO Community Center Back2School Children’s Fair

Hundreds of children received backpacks, school supplies and health physicals on July 28 as the Camino Community Center hosted its 14th annual Back2School Fair.

Thanks to the many University City businesses and individuals who donated supplies.

The center, located near the Ucity Blvd Transit Station, provides a health clinic, fitness programs, thrift store and other services.

Learn more about the center and ways you can help, too.

Botanical Gardens need your green thumb

Garden volunteerUNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens need volunteers to help in the extensive outdoor gardens and greenhouse and to work with visitors as weekend hosts.

This is a great way to share your time with others who enjoy gardening, says director Jeff Gillman.

Volunteers also spread the joy of nature and nurture to the broader community.

To learn more about volunteering, email Jeff at jgillman@uncc.edu.

Learn about the proposed changes and how you can help shape them at an informational meeting at 6 pm Aug. 14.

The meeting location, Powerhouse Studio at 1507 Camden Road, is near the East-West light rail station. Learn more at charlotteudo.org or contact Alan Goodwin at agoodwin@charlottenc.gov.
