Why is it important to have a vision for Charlotte’s future?

How can Charlotte turn vision into reality?

How is that process tied to an ordinance?

Join us on March 22 for Planning to Win: Charlotte’s Vision, a presentation on these questions by Mitchell Silver, one of America’s leading experts on community vision.

Silver is the former president of the American Planning Association, former chief planning and development officer for the City of Raleigh, and current commissioner for the New York City Parks Department. In Raleigh, Silver led the comprehensive plan update process and a rewriting of the development code to create a vibrant 21st century city.

Charlotte is beginning work on its own update of policies and regulations that guide growth and development in Charlotte – the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).

The event will start with a reception from 5 to 6 pm, followed by Silver’s presentation and discussion from 6-7 p.m., moderated by Joe O’Connor, president and general manager of WFAE 90.7 FM. The event is free, but attendees must RSVP.

On March 24, Silver will also participate in the UDO Summit. Click here to learn more about the planned ordinance update and the UDO Summit taking place March 24 at UNC Charlotte City Center.
