University City’s newest place to stay, Holiday Inn Express and Suites University Research Park, opened recently near IKEA and Innovation Park. The four-floor hotel at Ikea and University Pointe Boulevards offers 99 guest rooms including 17 suites, heated indoor pool, complimentary breakfast and 24-hour fitness center.

Guests coming to shop, visit UNC Charlotte or conduct business in University Research Park and uptown Charlotte will appreciate the hotel’s location just off of I-85 and close to the soon-to-open LYNX Blue Line Extension light-rail line.

Great connections

The Carolinas’ only IKEA is just down IKEA Boulevard from the hotel, along with the rest of the Belgate retail center.

Newly extended University Pointe Boulevard and the I-85 South bridge provide direct access to the Innovation Park business complex, Wells Fargo CIC and the rest of University Research Park.

Once the LYNX light-rail line opens next spring, guests will be able to catch frequent trains to UNC Charlotte, uptown and south Charlotte at nearby stations on North Tryon Street at McCullough Drive and University City Boulevard.

Interested in Charlotte’s top tourist attractions? Concord Mills outlet mall and Charlotte Motor Speedway are just a few minutes away via I-85.
