William Scurry and Darlene Heater

Bill Scurry and Darlene Heater campaign for improvements to University City and Charlotte.

To our UCP Family,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of William Scurry on Sept. 2.  William died after a long struggle with cancer.

Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss his family suffers.

As representative of Allen Tate Realty, William was a remarkable servant leader and we were blessed to work alongside him and enjoy his contributions to the University City Partners Board of Directors from 2011 to 2015.

In spite of his illness, he recently joined the newly formed University City Foundation as a board member.

We will miss his humor and counsel.  Our most sincere condolences go out to his family and many friends.

A funeral service for William was held on Sept. 9 at University City United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the Scurry family is asking for donations to help with the funeral arrangements and other expenses.  For more information, please contact John Kindbom at john.kindbom@allentate.com or 704-593-2200.

Sincerely,

Darlene Heater

Executive Director, University City Partners
